The North West Provincial Treasury has successfully concluded its 2025 strategic planning
session, reinforcing its commitment to driving economic growth, strengthening financial
governance, and ensuring the effective use of provincial resources.

The session emphasized aligning departmental strategies with national and provincial priorities, including the Provincial
Growth and Development Strategy and the Provincial Development Plan.

A key focus was addressing unmet commitments from previous financial years by integrating
them into the current planning cycle. This ensures continuity and accountability in delivering on
critical initiatives.
The session also explored measures to correct skewed government expenditure, directing resources toward programs
that directly benefit citizens and combat the province’s persistent challenges of inequality, poverty, and unemployment.

The MEC highlighted the urgent need to tackle the province’s stagnant unemployment rates, stressing the Treasury’s role in advancing socio-economic transformation through targeted
budgetary interventions.

As stewards of public funds, the department remains dedicated to
enforcing financial compliance, promoting sound budgeting, and overseeing fund allocation to
meet provincial priorities.
