The North West Provincial Treasury’s Provincial Supply Chain Management (PSCM)
Programme has started a province-wide outreach programme to assist Small, Medium and
Micro Enterprises (SMMEs) and Non-Profit Organisations (NPOs) with registrations on the
Central Supplier Database (CSD) and the North West Business Enterprise Database (NWBED).
The hands-on outreach demonstrates the department’s commitment to breaking digital and
geographic barriers by empowering local entrepreneurs with access to government procurement
systems to participate economic inclusion, job creation, and the development of a vibrant,
competitive local economy.
The initiative, which began in October in the Dr Ruth Segomotsi Mompati District Municipality will
run until March 2026 across all municipalities in the province, bringing essential economic and
business development services directly to communities.
The programme aligns with the provincial government’s commitment to promoting inclusive
economic participation, especially among entrepreneurs in remote and rural areas.
During the outreach, Treasury officials assist entrepreneurs in registering new businesses and
updating existing profiles on the CSD, a prerequisite for companies wishing to qualify for
government tenders and procurement opportunities. Simultaneously, workshops are held to
educate SMMEs and NPOs about the NWBED, a provincial platform aimed at connecting local
enterprises to available business support services and market opportunities.
The Acting Chief Procurement Officer, Advocate Thomas Sekoboane said it is envisaged that
through the outreach programme, over hundreds of new enterprises should have successfully
registered on the two databases and further updated their details on CSD. “Entrepreneurs
requiring general guidance or support on the registration process are assisted and provided with
step-by-step information to ensure compliance with both CSD and NWBED requirements.”
Local businesses are encouraged to participate in upcoming sessions and to bring the following
documentation to facilitate their registration:
• A valid email address
• Company registration or identity number
• Contact and address details
• Bank account confirmation
• Tax information
• A list of commodities or services offered
