Amalia – under the theme “it’s still in our hands to combat poverty and inequality’’ which calls on all South Africans to act in building stronger communities, the NorthnWest Provincial Treasury reaffirmed its commitment to community development and social responsibility by commemorating the International Mandela Day through a meaningful outreach programme at the Ratanang Service Club in Amalia.
Led by the departmental senior management and officials, the outreach programme embodied the spirit of 67 minutes of service, honouring the enduring legacy of former President Nelson Mandela by giving back to one of the community institutions. The department brought hope, comfort and dignity to the elderly centre by donating essential items, planting the vegetable garden and painting the parameter fence.
Speaking during the outreach, the Provincial Accountant General, Mr. Geo Paul emphasized that “Madiba taught us that our greatest impact lies in serving others. Today, we honour his legacy by extending compassion, kindness and support to the elderly, who continue to play a significant role in shaping the community in Amalia. As the Provincial Treasury, we remain committed to making a meaningful difference beyond our core mandate of ensuring sound financial governance.”
Through this initiative, the department sought to strengthen its commitment to social responsibility by working with communities and stakeholders to improve the well-being of citizens while reinforcing the values of public service, accountability and service excellence.
