The MEC for Finance, Motlalepula Rosho will execute her legislative responsibility as stipulated under Chapter 4, Section 27 (2) of the Public Finance Management Act (PFMA) by tabling the Provincial Annual Budget for the 2023/24 financial year.

The section stipulates that the MEC for Finance in a province must table the provincial annual budget for a financial year in the provincial legislature no later than two weeks after the tabling of the national annual budget.

The tabling of the budget comes following the much-anticipated tabling of the National Budget speech by Minister of Finance, Mr Enoch Godongwana.

“The Provincial Treasury continues to play a pivotal role in monitoring and safeguarding the budget of the province in ensuring that all provincial state organs efficiently use our limited budget against ever-increasing citizens’ basic needs. We aim to use the budget for the new financial year to attend to most challenges affecting our communities including unemployment, rural roads, water & sanitation and housing but to mention a few”, says MEC Rosho.

Key issues that are also expected to be the highlights in the provincial budget include provincial economic outlook, infrastructure development, provincial expenditure pattern, allocations of funds to departments, audit improvement plans and support plan for struggling municipalities.

The budget will be tabled on Tuesday, 07th March 2023, 9h00am at the North West Provincial Legislature

It will be broadcast live on various communication platforms across the province including the departmental facebook page. Budget documents will be made available on the Provincial Treasury website (www.treasury.nwpg.gov.za) during delivery of speech.
